After spending the Fall of 2016 in the Cayo District, I became determined to learn as much about the country as possible. These are my experiences since then, as I travel and meet more people this section will grow into an in-depth travel guide tailored for holistic-minded travelers seeking organic foods, ecologically sustainable lodges, local products, and a toxin-free future.

Cayo District

The most western of the six districts, Cayo sits on the Guatemalan border and contains some of the country’s most impressive waterfalls, Mayan Ruins, restaurants, and holistic healing.

Placencia

A peninsula on the southern tip of the Stann Creek district is a small fishing village, Placencia. Being within driving distance allows for trips inland and ease of transportation to and from peninsula.

AmBergris Caye

Home to the famous San Pedro Town, Ambergris stretches close to the Mexican border to the north and offers world class scuba diving and sunsets. The country’s largest and most popular caye.
